UAlbany DB Christian Lewis Transfers To Austin Peay

Former UAlbany defensive back Christian Lewis announced his transfer to Austin Peay on Thursday. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Governors as a graduate transfer.

Lewis started five games for the Great Danes in 2022. He finished the season with 30 total tackles and four pass breakups. He made a career-high 13 tackles against Villanova on Oct. 22. Over four seasons at UAlbany, Lewis totaled 73 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, 12 pass breakups and one touchdown. 

Before signing with UAlbany, Lewis played running back and defensive back at Farrell High. He was named the District-10 Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Region honors as a senior. He finished the season with 2,470 rushing yards and 38 total touchdowns. 

Utah Tech WR Joey Hobert Transfers To Texas State

Former Utah Tech wide receiver Joey Hobert announced his commitment to Texas State on Wednesday. Hobert will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Bobcats. 

Hobert was named an FCS All-American last season by five different publications, including The Bluebloods. He was also named the Bluebloods WAC Offensive Player of the Year. He finished the season with 90 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards, 16 touchdowns, and averaged 114.4 yards per game. 

Hobert originally signed with Washington State in 2020 and spent two seasons with the Cougars. In high school, Hobert was named the Sea-View League MVP and earned CIF Southern Section honors. 

McNeese RB Deonta McMahon Signs With Toronto

Former McNeese State running back Deonta McMahon signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. The Argonauts won the 2022 Grey Cup. 

McMahon earned first-team All-Southland honors in 2022 and second-team All-Southland honors in 2021. Over three seasons, McMahon totaled 2,155 rushing yards, 21 rushing touchdowns, 519 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. 

McMahon signed with the Cowboys after playing two seasons at Butte College. He finished his career at Butte with 1,507 rushing yards and helped lead the program to a 17-4 overall record. 

Memphis LB Andrew Jones Commits To Grambling

Former Memphis linebacker Andrew Jones announced his transfer to Grambling State. He will have three years of eligibility remaining for the Tigers.

Jones saw action in 14 games over two seasons at Memphis and helped the Tigers win the 2022 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl. He had a career-game against Mississippi State after finishing with four tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.

He signed with Memphis as a four-star prospect and was the 10th-highest-rated recruit to commit to Memphis since 1999. Jones was the No. 13 inside linebacker and No. 11 player in the state of Louisiana in the class of 2021.
