Khameron Taylor Discusses His Commitment To Alabama A&M

Alabama A&M is reloading after winning the Spring 2021 SWAC Championship and are looking to reclaim the throne in the SWAC in the 2022 season. The offensive side of the ball lost multiple top contributors including SWAC Offensive Player of the Year Aqeel Glass and SWAC All-American Dee Anderson. The Bulldogs also lost multiple tight ends from the 2021 squad in Kendric Johnson and Anthony Howard. Alabama A&M needed experience and production at the tight end position, which came in the form of former South Alabama and Indiana TE Khameron Taylor.

Taylor announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Wednesday and was a massive addition to the offensive side of the ball for Alabama A&M.

Zach McKinnell of The Bluebloods talked with Taylor after his commitment to Alabama A&M. Taylor addressed why Alabama A&M was the choice to finish his college football career:

“I took a visit to A&M not knowing what to expect, then I got there and fell in love with it. I liked the campus, school history, and the culture. When I walked on the field I visualized myself making plays and playing in front of the crowd, and i just got a feeling it was the place for me. The coaching staff was so cool and kept everything real with me and they just felt fun to be around. Everything happens for a reason so I’m definitely coming here to grow as an individual in some capacity.”

Taylor also talked about the impact that the HBCU movement had on his recruitment this offseason:

“It definitely had some influence on my decision because I felt like I was being apart of something bigger than football coming here. I feel like the movement or somewhat shift or prominence is amazing and I hope HBCUs continue to become better and better programs and universities. I definitely can see a future where HBCUs thrive on the FBS level as well as FCS and below. Plus, I always wanted to go to an HBCU even coming out of high school so I am blessed and thankful I get this opportunity. We also play some good competition, a couple familiar foes which I’m pretty happy to get to play again.”

Taylor expanded on the recruiting pitch from head coach Connell Maynor and the offensive staff on how he will fit into the offensive scheme at Alabama A&M:

“The offensive staff was so cool with me and it was fun getting to know some of them; I felt good around them and felt comfortable. I felt like they were being honest with me and they told me it’s a competitive room and we have good players in but we are bringing you here for a reason because you’re a good player as well. They talked about how they will utilize my strengths and how I can help propel the already good team we have. They also spoke about the school and culture which I loved. They were just so real and I appreciated everything and I believed in the goal for the team which is a SWAC championship.”

Taylor also wanted to let all the Alabama A&M fans know what they could expect from him when he arrives to campus this summer and throughout the 2022 season:

“They can expect physicality, big plays, and altogether a show, hopefully they get to see why they call me ticket.”

Khameron Taylor should be a versatile piece for the offensive juggernauts of Alabama A&M and will offer much needed experience at the TE and H-Back spot for the Bulldogs. Alabama A&M opens their 2022 season on the road against UAB on September 1st as they look to win their 2nd SWAC Championship in the last three seasons.
