Delaware State enters the 2022 season as a dark horse for the MEAC Championship and are looking to take the next step after a 5-6 season last year. The offensive line room for the Hornets was one of the youngest units in the country with only two seniors in Matthew Derks and James King. The Hornets added a massive piece to the offensive line this afternoon as former Maryland offensive lineman Liridon Mujezinovic announced his commitment to Delaware State on his social media.

Mujezinovic was previously committed to Maryland and enrolled this spring before re-entering the transfer portal. Mujezinovic played high school in the Netherlands and was a 3-star recruit and the #2 player from the Netherlands in the class of 2020. Mujezinovic held offers from Cincinnati, Louisiana, Temple, & UMass coming out of high school before announcing his commitment to Temple in July of 2019. The 6-foot-8, 290-pound offensive tackle decided to take the junior college route and play at Garden City Community College after deciding to decommit from Temple in December. Coming out of Garden City, Mujezinovic was a Top-10 JUCO offensive tackle and a Top-75 overall player at the JUCO level.
Delaware State signed one offensive lineman this offseason in Tavian Hobson, which makes the addition of Mujezinovic even more important for the offensive front. The Hornets offensive scheme relies on rushing the football, which is one of the strengths of Mujezinovic’s game and he should be able to make an immediate impact in the 2022 season. Mujezinovic has the size and athleticism to be a dominant offensive lineman for the Hornets and will have three years of eligibility at Delaware State. The Hornets ranked 2nd in the MEAC in rushing offense last season with 142 yards per game and return three of their four top contributors at the running back spot.
The Hornets open their 2022 season against Lincoln University on September 3rd before traveling to face Delaware in Week 2 in an extremely challenging FCS out of conference matchup.
