Northwestern State Lands Former Arkansas State DB Antwon Fegans

Northwestern State has been loading up on both sides of the ball as they look to compete for the Southland Conference title this upcoming season. Last night the Demons landed former Jacksonville State QB Chance Newman and now Northwestern State lands an immediate contributor on the defensive side of the ball. 

Former Arkansas State defensive back Antwon Fegans announced his transfer to Northwestern State earlier this morning on his social media.

Fegans was a standout player at Oxford High School in Oxford, AL in the class of 2020. According to the 247Sports composite Fegans was a consensus 3-star prospect and was a Top-50 prospect in the state of Alabama. He led Oxford to a 14-1 record in his senior season and was named All-State, All-County, & All-Region. He was also named All-County and 2nd team All-Region as a sophomore. 

Fegans was highly recruited by multiple FBS schools and held offers from the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Arkansas, & Virginia Tech. He ultimately decided to sign with Arkansas State in the early signing period in 2019.

Fegans did not see much action in his two seasons at Arkansas State. He played a reserve safety role and special teams as a true freshman in 2020, but only appeared in one game during the 2021 season. He announced his transfer after the 2021 season and will now aim to contribute to the Demons secondary in 2022. 

The safety spot for the Demons looks to be a strong point for this team entering the 2022 season. Fegans will be an upgrade at one of the safety spots, but Southland All-American PJ Herrington also returns at the safety spot for the Demons.
