Former 4-Star Kentucky QB Beau Allen Transfers To Tarleton State

Tarleton State unexpectedly lost starting quarterback Steven Duncan this offseason, which left a major question mark at the quarterback position going into the 2022 season. The Texans landed a huge transfer in former 4-star Kentucky quarterback Beau Allen, which Tarleton State officially announced early Tuesday morning on social media.

Allen was a 4-star prospect out of Lexington, KY in the Class of 2020. He was a Top-500 prospect in the country in the 247Sports composite and ranked as the 5th best player in the state of Kentucky. Allen was a four year starter for Lexington High School and totaled over 11,000 passing yards and 127 passing touchdowns over his high school career. He still ranks Top-5 in Kentucky High School history for career passing yards and passing touchdowns. Allen won the Paul Hornung Award, which is given to the best high school player in the state of Kentucky. He was also a three-time All-State selection and held offers from Power-5 programs across the country.

Allen saw limited action at Kentucky over his two seasons, in which he totaled 132 passing yards and 1 rushing touchdown in 5 games of action for the Wildcats. Will Levis emerged as the starter for the Wildcats, which led to the transfer of Joey Gatewood (UCF) and Allen these past two offseasons. Allen will offer an immediate upgrade at the quarterback spot for the Texans and could be the answer to replace Duncan as the leader of the offense. Allen will compete with Marco Siderman and Alex Thole for the starting quarterback role for the Texans. Allen will have four years of eligibility left at Tarleton State.

Tarleton State was selected to finish 3rd in the WAC this season, while also receiving one first place vote in the preseason poll. The Texans have added multiple impact pieces on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. The Texans open the season against Mississippi Valley State on September 1st in Memorial Stadium.
