Former SAC All-American WR Collier Ricks Transfers To Prairie View A&M

New head coach Bubba McDowell and his new staff have done an excellent job on the recruiting trail as they look to help Prairie View A&M repeat as SWAC West champions. The Panthers landed a huge commitment from former Texas Wesleyan wide receiver Collier Ricks who announced his transfer to Prairie View A&M on social media.

Ricks was a standout at St. Amant High School where he helped lead the Gators to a district championship in 2017. He committed to Texas Wesleyan, which competes at the NAIA level in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver was able to make an instant impact for the Rams as he totaled 10 catches for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns as a true freshman. Over the next two seasons Ricks totaled 62 catches, 1,065 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns for the Rams. In 2021 Ricks was a 1st Team All-SAC selection after leading Texas Wesleyan in catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns for the season. Ricks will have one year of eligibility left at Prairie View A&M as a graduate transfer.

Prairie View A&M had a Top-4 passing offense in 2021, but lost leading wide receiver Antonio Mullins and starting quarterback Jawon Pass this offseason. The Panthers return the next three leading pass catches including Jailon Howard, Trejon Spiller, and Colbey Washington from last season. Running back Jaden Stewart also returns after contributing over 130 yards receiving last season. Ricks will bring experience, size, and excellent route running to the wide receiving core for the Panthers. He should be able to find immediate playing time and could be an important weapon for new offensive coordinator Mark Frederick

Prairie View A&M opens the 2022 season against SWAC West rival Texas Southern on September 3rd.
